As the bodies piled high (1985)

SARA FRANCOLA

Who is responsible when someone dies in a stadium?

The Heysel Stadium disaster was a tragic event that occurred during the European Cup Final in 1985. 39 people died due to the stadium's inadequate infrastructure and poor crowd management.

Initially, Liverpool fans were blamed, but further investigation revealed that the authorities

(UEFA and the Clubs) who agreed to the game taking place in a crumbling stadium, were equally at fault.

Through this project, I seek to question the actions of those responsible by recreating the movement of people who were crushed by each other and by focusing on the wall that collapsed.
