Bloemardinne, Minne, i

LUCY BINK

Can you change what is said about someone’s life, especially when the telling of this life and its value is done so incorrectly?

Through photography and writing letters I try to build a connection with Bloemardinne, an influential woman from the 14th century, portrayed as part of a sculpture in the St-Michiels en

St-Goedelekathedraal in Brussels.

Because of the falsification of historical documents, she has been portrayed as a heretical sect leader.

By visiting, connecting, befriending, and visualizing her, I clear her name and portray her as the loving, progressive, feminist that I believe her to have been.
