Stories are medicine, but what happens when we critically revisit them?

My childhood feels like a perfectly round bubble in which I could dream away while listening to my mother’s voice reading stories to me every night.

Through photography, I go back to the tales I have idealized as a child and now criticize as an adult.

For this project, I looked at the story of The Smurfs, with my focus being on the edition “La Schtroumpfette”, as it embodies a seemingly innocent but actually quite male-centered and superficial society.
