Hearing the story about the Duke of Brabant who, infamously, won a battle by fighting in a swamp, made me eager to go the swamps of Brussels myself.

Unlike their opponents, the Duke and his knights discovered that they had to follow a flower, called yellow iris,  to avoid becoming entangled in the swamp. 
As I found my way to navigate the centuries-old swamp, I discovered how magical stories like these are still tangible when you immerse yourself in the swamp’s natural environment.
